Partners Eric Chaffin and Roopal Luhana have been selected as New York Metro Super Lawyers for 2014. This is the fifth year in a row that Mr. Chaffin has received this honor. Partner Roopal Luhana was named a New York Metro Super Lawyer in 2013, one of the Top Women Attorneys in the New York Metro Area in 2012, and a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2011. This is the fourth year that Ms. Luhana has been recognized as a Super Lawyer.

Super Lawyers are chosen through a multi-step selection process. A lawyer can be nominated by a peer or recommended by the Super Lawyers research department which identifies those who have received certain credentials, honors or results. After that initial list is established, each lawyer is gauged by 12 indicators including: community service, verdicts and settlements, experiences, honors and awards, certifications and licenses, education and more. The last step, also known as the “blue ribbon review,” groups lawyers based on their practice areas. The nominees are then evaluated and divided by firm size.

Chaffin Luhana is a national plaintiffs-only law firm that focuses on helping those involved in personal injury cases, medical malpractice and mass torts nationwide.

Mr. Chaffin and Ms. Luhana built their practice around the motto, “Doing Good by Doing Right,” and founded the Chaffin Luhana Foundation to help promote their message and give back to the community. For 2014-2015 the Foundation is primarily focused on educating and empowering kids and adults to stop distracted driving. This focus is propelled by the Foundation Spokesperson, Stephani Victor, herself a survivor of a distracted driving accident. Ms. Victor lost both of her legs in the accident but went on to become a Paralympic Alpine Skiing Champion, winning various World Cup titles and Olympic medals. The Foundation is currently airing a Public Service Announcement featuring Ms. Victor, and pushing the anti-distracted driving message.
