Where: Quaker Valley High School

PITTSBURGH, PA-Chaffin Luhana Partner Eric Chaffin and Chaffin Luhana Foundation Spokesperson and Paralympian Stephani Victor will visit Quaker Valley High School on October 20, 2014 to help stop students from driving distracted.

Ms. Victor is an alum of Quaker Valley High School. She was raised just outside of Pittsburgh, in Sewickley. She is looking forward to returning to her hometown. “There is no greater feeling than coming home. To return to my high school and share not only this deeply important issue, I plan to also share my Paralympic gold medal story of victory to inspire Quaker Valley’s students to pursue their dreams. When they choose, as I chose, to embrace their dreams, they will experience the importance of living their values, including driving aware,” Ms. Victor said. She won five medals in three Paralympic Winter Games, including a gold medal and two silver medals in 2010 in Vancouver.

The EndDD (End Distracted Driving) presentation hits very close to home for Ms. Victor. She lost both of her legs in a traumatic car accident involving a distracted driver when she was just 26 years old. Ms. Victor offers a first-hand account of the devastation a distracted driver can cause and encourages students to drive safely, without distractions.

Mr. Chaffin is the managing partner of Chaffin Luhana and a trustee for the Chaffin Luhana Foundation. The firm regularly represents victims of distracted driving, and regularly sponsors events to engage, educate and empower people in the community to speak up for Driver Awareness. Mr. Chaffin has given EndDD presentations to high schools in the Ohio Valley, as well as national organizations. This is the second time Ms. Victor will be presenting with Mr. Chaffin.

Trial lawyers like Mr. Chaffin have given EndDD presentations across the country. The concept was developed by The Casey Feldman Foundation. Mr. Chaffin and Ms. Victor will also be discussing with students at Quaker Valley the Chaffin Luhana Foundation Driver Awareness (“DRAW”) Challenge that was recently announced, and entails a grand prize opportunity for the winning student-scholars to ski with Ms. Victor in Park City, Utah in March 2015. “This will be the first school we speak with since we announced the CLF DRAW Challenge, which is exciting and appropriate since Quaker Valley is where Stephani graduated from,” said Eric Chaffin.

Join us at Quaker Valley High School at 1:30pm on October 20, 2014. Media is encouraged to attend to help raise awareness about distracted driving and learn more about the CLF DRAW Challenge. Ms. Victor and Mr. Chaffin will be available for interviews before and after the student presentation.
